Non-Ferrous Metals Prices in 2024
The metals sector is currently one of the most relevant industries worldwide, as it supplies various industrial sectors and facilitates life as we know it. For this reason, it is one of the most dynamic and changing industries, closely tied to the economic cycles of countries and shifts in their policies.
These metals are essential for producing tools, components, and applications that support everyday life for individuals as well as the operations of businesses and governments. Therefore, price fluctuations in metals have a significant impact on multiple sectors and the general population.
Below, we present some of the main non-ferrous metals and the fluctuations they experienced throughout 2024:
Nickel
Nickel experienced multiple price movements throughout the year, starting at $16,000 per ton and showing significant increases in the first half of the year. It peaked at $21,000 per ton, after which it underwent a sharp decline, closing the year at approximately $15,085 per ton.
Copper
Regarding copper prices, it began the year at $8,430 per ton. Although there were no significant changes during the year, there were some increases, reaching over $10,500 per ton in the first half, before stabilizing and ending the year at $9,500 per ton. By the end of the year, the price was close to its initial value, settling at approximately $8,100 per ton.
Tin
Tin closed the year at $28,900 per ton, but it reached nearly $35,000 per ton at certain points throughout the year, with various fluctuations across different months.
These are the movements observed in 2024 for the main non-ferrous metals, which play such a critical role in various industrial sectors worldwide, including Argentina.
